I saw them open for Catie Curtis in '03 or '04 I think, with Julie Wolfe on accordion. I bought the first record and their solo stuff, in addition to Garden Verge (a nod to Jonatha?) the duo (minus Nate) on my way out of the venue. In my opinion, it's the chemistry of the three of them together that brings the magic. Julie sat in with Girlyman on several songs and that ranks among my favorite all-time live music experiences. - ------Original Message------ From: Laurence Krulik Sender: owner-shindell-list-digest@smoe.org To: shindell-list ReplyTo: shindell-list@smoe.org Subject: [RS] Girlyman? Sent: Oct 21, 2011 6:19 AM Hey Folks - I'm constantly trying to stumble on the next band for which I have a similar Shindell-esque affinity. It's been awhile. I'm not 100% there yet, but after a few days of absorbing this band, Girlyman has that potential (despite their awful name). Anyone ever hear of them? They brand themselves as "leading edge three-part harmony folk-pop". - -Laurence - -- ja clary ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V12 #48 ***********************************
