Caught them at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, where I volunteered for a number of years. My young son (perhaps 12 at the time) was at breakfast with us one day when Nate happened by, wearing pink fuzzy slippers. A few hours later, those same slippers were part of his stage attire. Hmm...but the music was tremendous, most notably their version of Harrison's "My Sweet Lord". Haven't seen them in six or seven years, but they apprear to be thriving. Looking for an under-the-radar cat? Jackie Greene makes some very cool music and Justin Townes Earle is really hitting his stride these days. I'm a huge Richmond Fontaine fan, too, but they're not everyone's cup o'tea... Hey Folks - I'm constantly trying to stumble on the next band for which I have a similar Shindell-esque affinity. It's been awhile. I'm not 100% there yet, but after a few days of absorbing this band, Girlyman has that potential (despite their awful name). Anyone ever hear of them? They brand themselves as "leading edge three-part harmony folk-pop". - -Laurence ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Oct 2011 16:45:56 -0400 From: "Joe Lanzalotto" Subject: [RS] Benefit Concerts for Terence Martin 10/25, 26 & 27 I dont know how many of you are Terence Martin fans but he has been fighting cancer for the past few months.
