He'd never performed it before, and I know they sort of cobbled together the lyrics before giving it a shot. For that reason alone, it's always been magical to me. What's drawn me to him has been the way he rites - it's his subject matter, his approach to lyric writing and his turn f phrase which I'm loving at the moment. Also, I don't think his cover of pringsteen's 4th of July, Asbury Park that he plays on Courier is anything pecial for instance. Having said that, I like Waist Deep in the Big Muddy but I don't know the original). I thought it was his own song to start ith, as the lyric seems to be very much the sort of thing that he would do. Either way, I'll work my way through all his original material and then aybe I'll have a pleasant surprise at the end with his covers!
