I would assume it is something RS feels passionate about. I had actually meant to post that I had heard something on my NPR station about "the disappeared" of Argentina -- and I never got around to it. Here is a link: http://www.democracynow.org/seo/2010/11/12/nieto_recuperado_born_to_parents_disappeared I knew "Abuelita" was a song based on real events, but the power of the song didn't really hit me until I actually heard the voices of the stolen children and the grandparents. And this atrocity is horrifyingly recent. While Abuelita makes us think of the grandmother, the NPR program made me think of the children. Imagine finding out the only parents you had ever known had stolen you??? Would you stop loving them? What a horrible emotional and psychological twist up for these stolen babies. If I'm being brutally honest, I don't always enjoy the Spanish tracks RS has been adding to recent releases. HOWEVER, I think a song like "Abuelita" is as important as Bono and other musicians drawing attention to the genocide in Africa. It's too bad RS couldn't reach a wider audience with this ballad.
