I'm so far behind in reading posts it's usually too late to comment...but I do read them. Anyway, Carol asked about covers. The last time this was discussed I wanted to make a suggestion. I always thought the song Highwayman by Jimmy Webb was rather powerful and right up Richard's alley. Maybe R would change the tempo or rhythm and make it his own. There's lots of opportunity for serious guitar picking too. It's not particularly mournful though. Any comments? I think I'd best add that I've been a Jimmy Webb fan for years. You can listen here if not familiar with the song. http://new.music.yahoo.com/jimmy-webb/tracks/highwayman--1219148 On another note...did anyone see the internet broadcast from Nashville Music City Roots last night? I streamed it to my large screen and speakers. It's my first attempt at that. Pretty good. After all when you live in the middle of nowhere you find LIVE where you can. Jeff Black opened, and for those who are fans, his next cd should be out in January. John Oates of Hall and Oates was the main attraction. I hadn't heard the Sam Bush band before. If you like bluegrass they really rock - excellent. Apparently this is a 3 hour stream every wednesday night from the Loveless cafi. As an fyi I'll be leaving for florida soon. What this means is that Richard will probably make an effort to come to the midwest while I'm gone...again. I'm starved for an RS performance but have been able to get a few shows in this year including Patty Larkin and Lori Mckenna with Mark Erelli so I'm not skin and bones. Carol...if you know of any good shows on the east coast - palm beach county and environs, assuming that's where you are - please email me with the info. Thanks. Carrie in KC soon to be back in Boynton Beach. > What appropriate mournful song do we want covered??
