I'm a big James Keelaghan fan, too, and heartily second that recommendation. And I'd like to add another: Slaid Cleaves, for those of you who don't know him. (I just saw him last night--only the second time; he's a fairly recent discovery, and I'm very enthusiastic.) A lot like Richard in that he writes beautiful long story-songs, and most of them are dark, dark, dark. His sense of words and story also reminds me of early Ellis Paul (and they're both from Maine, though Slaid has been in Texas for 18 years and sounds it--more on the country side of folk than the pop side). The way I heard it, it was a last minute addition that James was with Shindell. But maybe not. Anyway, that show was at a church in Silver Spring, MD on Adelphi Road, as it was a two lane road very wooded. I think it rain that night. The show was put on by the House of Musical Traditions who have a music Shoppe and they do concerts. A wonderful show. By the way, someone 92 just died who was connected to the fire in the song Cold Missouri Water, as he was a jumper. He was not part of the original crew who are in the song. I will get more information on that. This happened to be in today's Washington Post. That's one of the clearest RS videos I've seen. What do ya'll think about RS taking his melody up at the end of the "AYHN" verses?? At least it was an interesting switch up. ...Carol On Fri, Nov 13, 2009 at 1:28 AM, wrote: > Just saw a couple of videos from a recent Virginia show on YouTube: > > Arrowhead > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqGMz8MxIjc > > Are You Happy Now > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTH_isAS798 > > RG ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V10 #172 ************************************
