Given I have tickets for both Shindell shows at Joe's Pub this weekend, I'm going to duck out of tomorrow night. So, I have two tickets available. I bought them at the box office so no fees - $25 / ticket. If anyone needs 2 tickets, let me know and I can meet up in Manhattan. Should be a great show with Antje. Looking forward to Saturday night. Thanks, Laurence ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Nov 2009 13:14:08 -0500 From: "E. Wolke" Subject: [RS] Re: shindell-list-digest V10 #163 How sad about IMAC, even losing the mascot! Richard played at Jammin' Java last night, one of my personal favorite listening rooms in the DC area, with Antje Duvekot. Having gotten her album on iTunes and enjoyed it greatly, I was very glad to see her at last. She was marvelous, playing a lovely old Gibson Jumbo guitar that Richard had sold to her. I was very impressed, though she seemed a bit nervous. The guitar seems to need a neck adjustment (sorry, it's the guitar weenie coming out, and it may have made her a bit antsy not to be able to play in tune). I'm looking forward to seeing more of her. Richard was in fine fettle, playing an Epiphone Jumbo (and the Gibson when the fancy struck him). His hand is entirely recovered, and he was blazing. I kept his set list, which included many of my favorites and some new songs, too, delightfully: The Island Sattelites (a new song) Abby's Song (about a dog they had to send to the country because she was too wild -- written after a 9-hour walk around Florence, Italy. Go figure. That's why I love the man.) Sonora's Death Row Balloon Man Sittin' On Top of the World Che Guevara T-Shirt (he sells them now, sans Che's image) Waiting for the Storm Transit Reunion Hill Arrowhead (evidently G. E. Smith, quite late of Hall and Oates, has made up a verse on that. Saw it on the list but not the author of the verse unless I had a middle aged moment) There Goes Mavis And his encore: Beyond the Iron Gate (first time I had heard him perform it...) Last Fare of the Day (which always makes me a bit misty) All in all, a wonderful show, a great venue, a lovely evening. You folks out in Ashland, have a good time! Evelyn Wolke, now going back to lurkdom ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Nov 2009 14:44:57 -0500 From: "Kevin Bohrer" Subject: [RS] RE: shindell-list-digest V10 #163 I think your friend might have been sitting at my table. I was soooooo excited that he opened with Sonora's Death Row because I love the song and had never heard him do it live.
