Yes! :) wish I could make it down to Sunrise. Here a few RS tidbits that I remember over the years. (1) At a recent Vermont show just before (or right after) he played Clara, RS said that his parents liked the new (Not Far Now) CD, and his father especially liked Clara as it was more upbeat than his other material. We all got a chuckle when RS said that Clara wasn't "really" an upbeat number. This was not the first time I've heard him mention his parents at a show. (2) A few years back at the Wachusett Folk Cafe (now defunct) in Gardner, Ma, he played Fishing. Afterward he mentioned that his Dad said to him that he always thought he liked it when they went fishing up in Canada. (3) He did also mention at the same show that "Hazel's House" was currently "on the market", so I guess that does bring another relative into the mix. Anybody have any others? (Also just noticed that Mariana's EP is available from RS's Online Store. Even though his Discography section says "Coming Soon". One more nugget I have to purchase.) And then, from the audience to whom he was telling the story, someone shouted out "Yeah, and they don't eat seeds, either!." Funny stuff. (Turns out she was right in front of me...) Anyway, some guy in the audience shouted, "Have her stand up!!" RS replies, "Naw, she's too short..." His Mom shoots right back, "I am not!!!" (Speaking as a 5' 3" American, I can verify that Mama Shindell is, in fact, short..) I've got an another question, one time while Googling for "Richard Shindell" I came up with ANOTHER Richard Shindell who is a 1950's era graduate of, and now a fund source for, Rutgers University. The age is right for this gentleman to be RS's father, and he appears to me to have the same Irish facial features. Does anyone know if that's his Dad?? I think it almost has to be -- right down to the New Jersey connection. *Ciao!* ........Carol ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Apr 2009 18:19:59 -0700 From: Sandy Smith Subject: Re: [RS] Fun things heard at live shows A few years ago, there was some trouble at the Church of the Annunciation in Israel. RS performed at McCabes on the day it ended, and spoke about it. Then he said "this next song takes place . . . well . . . there" and began playing "Before You Go." (Sorry if this is a spoiler for anyone who hasn't figured out the lyrics yet!)
