Near the end of the show, Richard finally plays the song. The woman lets out a blood-curdling scream . . . and during the song, jumps on the stage to start dancing, a la the "Soy Bomb" dancer during the famous Bob Dylan performance. Ya hadda be there. That was me. I think the Pina Coladas were bad that night. :-) > >>>Ya hadda be there.<<< .........That's the wonderful thing about the new fangled interweb. You don't actually HAVE to be there. I had no idea what you were talking about with Dylan and was instantly able to Google this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YKhNrvUXN4 My favorite part is how completely unfazed Dylan is. He doesn't miss a chord. When the other half and I saw Paul McCartney in Tampa a few years ago despite MONDO security some guy got loose on the stage. Sir Paul handled it just as well as Dylan but then there was a massive security pile up on dumb @ss guy. Since people seem to like to shoot Beatles, I wouldn't have blamed McCartney if he left the stage -- but the band played on. Did RS remain unfazed???? *Ciao!* ....Carol ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 29 Mar 2009 14:24:54 -0700 From: Subject: Re: [RS] are you happy now >> Did RS remain unfazed???? << Well, this IS Richard we're talking about. I imagine he could, I don't know, cut off his FINGER or something, and remain unfazed. Norman, sharonG, anyone else who was there want to add anything? << Well, for starters, the woman was more than slightly loaded; she was quite ... happy. Earlier in the show, she had called out for Kenworth, and when Richard played it shouted "Yes!" and started dancing in her seat. Richard didn't show much emotion then, but when I saw him again at the Iron Horse sometime later, I mentioned being at the Fez & he said he was quite concerned. The show itself was wonderful. Richard played several songs from what was to become Somewhere Near Patterson, including Confession which he sung with Lucy. They also dueted on Mary Magdalen. As I recall, it was Michelle Cashman, who named it the "Soy Bomb" incident. (Josh Ritter, of course, being the man who penned "Lawrence, KS," which Richard recorded on South of Delia.) What an excellent show!! He's a great, really fun and energetic performer, a really sweet guy, and has quickly become one of my favorite songwriters. Definitely check him out if he plays in your area. - --Vanessa - -- "True compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar.
