That would be interesting, but I'm thinking it might benefit JG more than RS but you never know. JG was here last fall and I took two friends to the show. They weren't impressed. They couldn't get past the, what they called, excessive humming. I enjoyed the show. I can't find a podcast link, but I'm listening to the stream. Setting aside his first 2-3 albums (which are FANTASTIC, "I Know" being one of my favorite albums of all time..), Gorka's enduring strength has been his rich voice. RS, on the other hand, has been pretty consistent in his mind numbingly good lyrics and his guitar technique has continued to grow. I may not love EVERY song on one of RS's new releases, but there will be at least two or three that completely speak to me and that I feel on a very emotional level. I just recently found "I Am" and it completely blows me away as much as anything on "Sparrow's Point" did. I wish I had heard it back when it was released and immediately relevant, but I am glad to have found it at last. (Although in full disclosure mode I have to admit that Alan Jackson's "Where Were You" was very moving for me, too. It is much more direct than Shindell in speaking to 9-11, but moving for me none the less. I was also fortunate to live in a radio market that did not saturate the air with "WWY", either.) .....Carol ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Feb 2009 16:11:27 -0500 From: Peter Booth Subject: [RS] Hard To Find recordings... So, I just hit iTunes and dug up a few of the songs listed in the recent thread and so I'm now looking for the ones I couldn't find. Anybody have sources for: Shades of Black, Shades of Blue 1992 WWUH "Folk Next Door" -- Home Team Bleecker Street -- Last Thing on My Mind Hideous Grin She's In Spain and I'm in Pain I'l gladly reimburse people for recordings and I'll gladly shoot Richard some paypal cash for the recordings. Not looking for free music (I lecture my students constantly about the inherent rottenness of LimeWire) just trying to fill the gap from now to the new release. And Shades of Black, Shades of Blue isn't only on the Spring EP but was also featured on the Signature Sounds Anniversary double CD which apparently is out of print too but you can still get it via amazon z-shops for around $40. this is IMO a must have with lots of rarities by Dave&Tracy, Lori McKenna and other signature sounds artists.
