Interesting also to get a close-up view of how he's adapted his fingering since the 'axe incident'! He's throwing those minor shapes exactly as if he were playing barre chords, Also he's unable to add some of his usual decorative suspensions on the G and C chords..the tip of the injured index finger is obviously still too sore to use in a conventional way. gerry ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Nov 2008 09:02:52 -0500 From: "Laurence Krulik" Subject: [RS] Re: shindell-list-digest V9 #276 Hey Folks - on the matter of SOTU not being on the new record, I actually spoke to Richard and he indicated it would be the bonus CD. So, hopefully that puts everyone's fears to rest. I agree I would have been a shame not to have a studio version of that tune. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Nov 2008 11:35:43 -0500 From: "Carol Love" Subject: Re: [RS] youtube video ........I found this today. I know Ron had questions about the origins of "A Change is Going to Come". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUT1WgHat6I I'm repeating myself, but wouldn't it be great if RS covered some other blues/soul classics?? What about some Marvin Gaye?????? Happy Turkey Day!! .....Carol ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Nov 2008 14:24:13 -0500 From: richard rosenbloom Subject: [RS] Re: shindell-list-digest V9 #276 He opened the "Shindabelle" show at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC a couple of weeks ago with the same song in the same surprising register. AND he had Olabelle backing him up on vocals. It was a spectacular show, the standout of the evening (imho) was the best version of Transit I've ever heard him play. Also in the set list: two Dead songs, (Deal and Ripple), two Band songs (Long Black Veil and Acadian driftwood, a bit ironic considering Ms. Helm's absence) and just great interplay b/t Richard and the "Belles." Altogether a great evening. And LPC is a nice venue although the menu is somewhat limited. Can't have _everything_, i guess. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Nov 2008 14:56:30 -0500 From: "E. I think that we were all so bloody relieved about the election that it was just plain joy. THANK YOU for the video shoot, it was incredible!
