I just have to balk at the idea that a protest song like State of the Union is suddenly *irrelevant*. - --Vanessa On Sun, Nov 23, 2008 at 4:50 PM, Vanessa Wills wrote: > I'm really bummed that "State of the Union" is not making it onto the new > record. :-/ It's my favorite song out of the new batch, too. We're still on for Afghanistan and the hunt for bin Laden. Wow, I can't believe I created such a firestorm over saying that State of the Union won't be on the album. He said something like he was glad Obama won and didn't want the song bringing us back to Bush-times. Something like that. I almost didn't mention it either. Hey, maybe he'll rethink it and keep it on. I also like the song and will be sorry if it's not there. A hidden track is a great idea. For what it's worth, there's a pretty good video of him singing it at Falcon Ridge on YouTube. If you search under his name, you're sure to find it. And as for Nora, I thought for a moment he was getting ready to play it but it turned out to be something else. Drats! He said he couldn't play Wisteria anymore cause of his finger. Ron, I know you posted a list of songs he wasn't able to do with his finger being messed up. Is Fleur de Lis one of them too? Good to see the list come alive again! Janet PS My daughter's 25 but there's something about Mavis that irks her. Probably because he's played it every single time we've seen him! ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 23 Nov 2008 20:39:31 -0700 From: =?ISO-8859-1?Q?john_cl=E9irigh?= Subject: Re: [RS] Oh my! I can tell you for sure one song that is really outdated: Confession. Nope, those bears were just hibernating and now everybody's bust.. and we can't even afford those blue pills. He received a request for Wisteria, and said he couldn't play it because of his finger which he cut while choping wisteria. He played Fleur de Lis, but stumbled over the words (not that I blame him). His Transit was amazing, with Palin Republicans going into the vortex. Norman Quoting john cliirigh : > Richard played Fleur de Lis in Boulder when he was here a moth ago.
