They are now know as Ollashindellabelle. O:)! That is what they said. You could tell they where having a very good time on stage together, as that worked out very well, as they played for almost 2 hours without a break. As for the keyboard player, he was found two days before the show to fill in for the regular keyboard player from that group, as he played organ, piano and some kind of mouth keyboard instrument. He did very well, as he had several solos, including at least one on a Shindell song. Richard did mention his upcoming CD. We sit in the Balcony as the view is great there for all shows at the Barns. Well, tonight (11-15) we see Eddie From Ohio in Owings Mills, MD., as we saw Nanci Griffith on 11-9 this week. So it has been a very good week for live music. That's called a melodica. Google that for more info. You can't inhale on that instrument, since you'll get nothing, but it is rather interesting. Thanks a lot. Sing me Back home is Merle Haggard. Thank you, I didn't know that. For some reason I thought it was a traditional tune, but I appreciate the correction. And forgive the Travis/Haggard confusion; there's even a video from the old Johnny Cash Show (yes, I betray my age there) where he and Merle HAGGARD sing it together. OOOOPS. Mea mas culpa. > > Sounds like a fun show! It was all that and the bag of chips! Richard said, "Oh, we were under-rehearsed and overconfident, we were just having fun," but hell, if my clams sounded that good I'd be a pro myself! There was a honkin' lot of sheer joy on that stage, from Richard and all the other musicians. I hadn't had that much fun in ages! > > BTW, Soul of a man, the Bruce Cockburn song? Which song is Green Pastures? > (Pastures of Plenty?) I believe that "Soul of a Man" IS the Bruce Cockburn song (hey, steal from the good ones), but "Green Pastures" may well be an Ollabelle piece; it's on one of their albums, which I promptly downloaded from iTunes. Go there. Do it. You won't be disappointed. > > > Interesting how those Dead covers come up every now and then. And great how they rocked the stuffy, staid DC crowd. It was a great show, and I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to get to Annapolis on the 19th. It's probably not possible (unless anyone in the Manassas area is thinking of going, and I'll gladly split gas), but GODS, I'd love to see that magic (or another round of something a little different) again! > > Cheers, Evelyn ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V9 #269 ***********************************
