He commented that post-election he had been in NYC, walking in Harlem, watching whites and blacks, friends and strangers, hugging and crying. It was evident that Richard was happy with the election result and someone in the audience yelled out Are you happy now? ;-) At one point I asked to tell us about the new Antje Duvekot album, to which he replied Are you a plant? :-) Then commented on how much he enjoyed just waving his hand and making executive decisions regarding someone elses songs (while wearing sunglasses!). Thinks he may want to do more producing. The setlist: Kenworth of my dreams Last fare of the day (my favorite of the evening) Cold Missouri waters (Keelaghan) The island There goes Mavis Get up Clara (a new song. Heres a link to a YouTube video:) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eErjFuUA6E Balloon Man Summer wind, cotton dress (on bazooki) Mary Magdalene (on bazooki) Sitting on top of the world (trad.) Waist high in the deep muddy (Seeger) Next best western Hazels House Fishing Are you happy now (a Dylanized version that was quite funny) North country blues (Dylan) Transit A nice long setlist, but no encore - he did seem tired. Theres no way to leave a RS without wanting more. :-) KarenZ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 6 Nov 2008 11:39:30 -0800 (PST) From: Janet Cinelli Subject: [RS] new album I just got a newsletter from Signature Sounds. They had this little blurb: March 10 -- Richard Shindell returns! His new album is called Not Far Now. Seems a long way off! I sure hope so. I've almost given up on RS ever showing up around these parts again. New recordings are my only solace. Noticed in his newsletter he is playing in Kent tonight with Darrell Scott. I'd love to be there. Am listening right now to a DS cd I picked up not long ago -Invisible Man-. Good. Tonight will be double Good.
