I received a call from the Watercolor Cafi in Larchmont last night alerting me that Richard's show on July 6 had been moved to July 20 due to a minor injury. Anyone know what happened? The website still shows the original tour schedule. Bad news about the axed finger. But if Richard isn't playing guitar on his current tour, who is? Or is he performing a cappella? ;-) Also, this is probably old news but I found this hilarious link, posted by Richard, to a "version" of Reunion Hill: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBSnujOEhCI ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 02 Jul 2008 19:23:27 -0400 From: rongrittz@aol.com Subject: Re: [RS] Finger and Gurgie >> But if Richard isn't playing guitar on his current tour, who is? << Gee, if only there was a guy who knew the chords to pretty much every one of his songs. I was thinking, as I read, "the show must go on...," that if anyone could play without his left index finger, it would be RS. Oddly, I cut down to the bone and through the nail on my left thumb with a standard office paper cutter on Monday. Tho the thumb only frets an occasional "wrap around" here and there, I am unable to play most of my songs and even mostly none of my RS repertoire. =( Must be in the stars, Ron, stay away from sharp objects for a while!! But I will confess a little daydream from long ago. In my little fantasy, seems I was at a Richard solo show, and before the show, he slipped backstage and sprained his wrist. He came out to tell the audience that he was terribly sorry, but that the injury was going to prevent him from playing that night. But I sorta stood up and said um, well, hrm, errr, I could, you know, handle the guitar parts to pretty much the whole set list, and that hey, what's the worst that could happen? Egged on by a crowd who figured that half-Richard was better than no-Richard, he agreed. All went well until I started playing "The Weather" . . . Hee.
