It got a pretty good rating. Sounds like he writes of historical events/period pieces like Richard. I don't think his (Ben's) melodies or music is a good. You can't really tell from the brief clips tho. Here's a blurb w/ a Richard reference: Lyrically, Lincoln's Man is a rich, story-filled song collection that portrays, like a web of lay lines, mankind's interlaced journey across America down through the centuries. Like Richard Shindell and others before him, Ben Bedford is to be congratulated for writing in the female voice ("Virginia Girls") as well as the male voice. As for the melodic highlights of Lincoln's Man, Williams' Blues-styled resonator guitar intro to "Virginia Girls" was clearly one and, later, there was Abate's vocal contribution, then there was that atmospheric drum and banjo segment that brought "Lincoln's Man" to a close, plus the hook-laden melodies that underpinned "The Other Story" and "Black As Coal," and more. Much more. Listening to Kenny White today, Carrie in KC ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V9 #117 ***********************************
