Also Sitting on Top of the World. The guitar is subtle and delicious to the point of being, hmm, I want to say sexually attractive, but that sounds so slimy. Was nice to hear a couple of you discussing it yesterday. The other cuts are growing on me too, and I love the transformation of Born in The USA. I love my Bruce very well, but dang that was a bombastic period he went through back then when "Born" first came out. Me no likkee. I like Richard's. I'm so happy to have this album. Am mad that for some reason its not on my iPod. Could have sworn it would be. Guess I haven't "sync'ed" recently enough. Also, anyone find it strange that SOD came with no track names or album info? Which is fine if you're online you can "fetch" the info, but if your music 'puter is not online you have to manually enter the info. No biggie, as I took that opportunity to familiarize myself w/ the album further. hokay enuf from me, have a Happy Friday. Em ps: oh! I've got a friend of mine in Utah turned on to Richard! Sent her "Courier" last week and she took it on a roadtrip. She is home now and claims to be addicted. Says Baez' "Reunion Hill" just doesn't sound "right" to her anymore. Have been emailing in the evenings about her thoughts on the songs. Our discussion of "Fleur" was less, err, penetrating than the ones from you all I read in the archives ;) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Apr 2007 07:08:01 -0700 (PDT) From: Em Subject: [RS] one more thought on "Fleur" I've listened to this about 4 times today. Am dipping myself in it. Again. Its almost wild and wierd enough to be a Burroughs style "pipe dream". Its almost that kind of sweaty, fevered vision. Why does he want to be a witch? would that be freeing? And why would he be able to love "Mother Mary" more as a pagan? For a second I almost flashed on this being Mary Magdalene talking to Mary Mother of Jesus. but no, its not, I realize. I shouldn't analyze. And you folks really have chopped this up quite well. I'm not sure there are concrete answers. Not sure there could be Cliffs Notes for "Fleur de Lis". It almost dimishes it, to analyze. I guess I should just continue to let the pictures and feelings fly past and just be happy to *feel* it. A rare song that one. Do any of you actually play/perform this one? no need to respond really...I just needed to share what I was thinking. Hope that's ok. At the risk of seeming even slimier, (is that a even a word?) wait until you see Richard sing it live. It will absolutely blow you away! Also, I had no problem loading the CD on computer or Ipod with Real Player - all the names, etc. came right up. Pam Usually somewhere near Sacramento but right now in Rome! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Apr 2007 17:51:34 -0700 (PDT) From: Janet Cinelli Subject: [RS] SOD I was bored at work so I searched mapquest to see if there really is a Delia, Kansas. Lo and behold there is and what's scary, I have been there, visiting family. How someone from the Bronx can wind up there is beyond me. I don't mean to offend anyone on the list who may live in Kansas (Carrie?) but that song aptly portrays the intense isolated/lonely feeling of the place. Maybe it's just me, not used to so much open space and lack of people! On another note, I really do like hearing what others think of various songs, even Fleur de Lis! How exciting for you Pam to be in Rome! Hope you're having a grand time! Janet PS Just an FYI for any Odd Couple fans, they finally released season one!!! IMHO, the best sitcom ever! Tired of spam?
