I've imagined having one a time or two, though. Seems like a great way to expose your friends to your favorites and have a close-up-and-personal visit at the same time! And everyone thinks California is so with it!! Not when it comes to folk music. The group's material (all written by Susan) >is pretty much entirely religious in nature, performed in a half-folk, >half-gospel, one-quarter blues style. It contains both earnest "symbolists' >gospel" tunes and irreverent "evangelical agnostic" songs. (Her own >descriptions.) Regardless, keep an >eye/ear out for the band and catch them if you can, they're really great. - - --Chris .............................................................. I hope this is gonna be the whole tour - cause I am going to see Susan Werner Friday 03-23-03 at Joe's Pub in New York City - and I am expecting to see the same band as Chris. I caught this line-up plus a bass player at the Greenwich Connecticut library about a month and a half ago. I think the "Barbie" thing was a one-time "this isn't really a formal and official show" thing. The CD "The Gospel Truth" is out - and available via Susan's website - and at gigs I assume. Feel free to visit her website where you can hear parts of the CD. Feel especially free to call up your local friendly Triple A type radio DJ person and request a song off the new Susan CD. It's the one thing I know that people like Susan and Richard appreciate - as it helps them get heard. "Why Is Your Heaven So Small?" and "Lost My Religion" would be great song requests. There's a final track on the CD "After All Of This" that may be the most beautiful melody Susan has ever written. It's a song about death ( sort of ). I am hoping to hear it again Friday night. I'm sure WFUV will be all over the new Richard CD when they have it - but I will be calling to request it anyway. Only rule I know of is that it's best to only call in with a request about once a week ( depends on the station I gues s ) - and that some stations don't really want you to call in with requests so then I guess it's a waste of time. Last time I called wfuv it was at 6:10am - and Claudia Marshall ( the dj ) picked up the phone. Also - if they do play your request, it can take up to two hours - so call when you plan to be listening for a while. At smaller stations with non-paid DJs ( try Saturday mornings on WFDU - _www.wfdu.fm_ (http://www.wfdu.fm) ) - then requests are a bit easier to make. I saw Lucy's new CD in the store today. You could call and request "Ring Of Fire". I love Lucy's voice. See ya... Bob P. ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone.
