Ever been here? It's a church type building yes? Probably a much smaller and more intimate place to see Richard? << Yeah, saw Dave & Tracy there several years ago. Nice place, but I wouldn't call it intimate. If I recall correctly, the room was about the size of the big room at the Hurdy Gurdy at the Central Unitarian Church in Paramus. RG .................................................. Ah. Speaking of Paramus - yeah - the Hurdy Gurdy. Well - it's not a tiny room - but it's a small room as compared to a concert hall. I was in "The Concert Hall" in NYC once ( the Society For Ethical Culture room ). A big room. Kinda a funny room as I recall. Funny entrance too - but not a bad place to see a show. I was there for a strange "taping" of a radio show - but Rosanne Cash and Terre Roche were there so I was happy. I have gotten spoiled. When I see Richard now I like to be 10 or 15 feet away. It's a bit silly and unrealistic - but having been that close in the past - - you just get spoiled. I really like being close enough that you can see the facial expressions of a singer like Richard up close. And it's fun to watch his guitar playing up close too. ( Not that I'll ever really learn anything ). Usually at venues like "crossing concerts" or "outpost at the burbs", if you get there early - you can get a seat up front. I saw "Old School Freight Train" 2 weeks ago and I was so close to the mandolin player I had to be careful not to bump into him with my foot. ( They are quite an excellent 20-something bluegrassy band - by the way ). I'll probably go see Richard with Tom Paxton in NYC. More convenient - and I like Paxton. Anyone have any idea if Richard will have a band with him this time around? A band at the big venue shows and 'just Richard' at the small venues? see ya... I don't get to see Richard very often (and now that I'm in CO instead of CA, it's even worse), but roughly the first 10 times I saw him I took the day off work so I could camp in line to get the best G.A. seat on stage right. It was all about the education and a wee bot o' stalkerism (I'm so happy that spellcheck doesn't like that word). And after two years I relaxed into any-seat-is-a-good-seat mode. Now I'd be happy to drive all the way to KC to see him from the back row. john - -- John Cleirigh | Boulder, CO | 303/590.4290http://johncleirigh.com/ | http://myspace.com/johncleirigh ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Jan 2007 16:37:05 -0600 From: "kunigunda" Subject: Re: [RS] small rooms or big rooms Heh heh. I've seen many great shows in Boulder but not Richard. =( kunigunda wrote: Heh heh. Amusing. We both know there's a better chance he'll show up in Boulder!! Carrie in KC.
