I first saw them when Erik Balkey did a house concert for us (Glenside House Concerts) a couple years ago and he brought them along to open for him. I've since seen them many times, and their set at the Emerging Artists showcase at Falcon Ridge this year should, in my opinion, garner them one of the three top spots and get them a spot on the main stage next year. Laurie MacAlister also was part of a band that Erik Balkey put together called Mission Street Project, which focused on socially relevant music. Duke Levine was also part of the band, playing on many instruments. Erik and Laurie performed in the Philly area and the chemistry is palpable. Too bad that she won't get that much chance to "duet" with Erik because Red Molly is definitely going places (after a short hiatus for CarolAnne to have a baby). And Abbie's solo album is also a gem. I am seconding Gene's recommendation of both Red Molly and Abby Gardner's solo cd. Laurie has sung with Cliff Eberhardt and Carolanne was part of Railroad Eath? if i am not mistaken. these women have taken the NY/NJ/NE scene by storm watch for them in your neighborhood soon. I will vouch for their cd and will buy gene one if you dont like it. Hey i need a new one too Another interesting voice is Libby Johnson a little known singer songwriter whose can be heard on the soundtrack of Trust the Man... nice out of the gate ... two songs on a soundtrack only in NYC sharon busking for redmolly ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Aug 2006 15:44:36 EDT From: Bobdog25nj@aol.com Subject: [RS] Fall Concerts at Outpost In The Burbs...
