Regarding Greg S.'s suggestion we all go out for a drink after the show in Madison Square park. Hmmmm.... OK.. works for me. There is a bar down the street if you head west on 23rd.... The park ... by the way.... is located: between Madison Avenue and 5th Avenue...and between 23rd Street and 26th Street... and is 6.2 acres big.... It provides nice views of the flat iron building to the south, and the empire state building to the north. Anyway.... there's a bar west on 23rd which I wondered into after Dar there last year. It was OK I guess... but not a big place... There is also a restaurant across 23rd street from the park called "Live Bait". Pretty good place to eat - I had this southern catifish thingy that was delish - and after the dinner crowd, I seem to recall there was folks drinking beers in the back where the tables are. It's a funky place with nice people - maybe we could go there? We could all meet right smack in the front of the stage after the music is over? How many of us are there gonna be? 2,000 or 3,000? More than 10? I might be bringing "Outpost In The Burbs" people with me... I can vouch for these people - but don't lend 'em any money or anything. Richard has played "Outpost" many times. Many of you have seen him there. "Outpost" is always looking for new volunteers by the way - as long as it's come up. We have Susan Werner on September 15th. Be there or be square. Montclair, New Jersey. City of Lights. OK... see ya... Bob Paterson ps.... what up with the buttons? did we get buttons? I ain't got no button. Do we have a secret handshake yet? How about a gang sign we could flash each other? I will be wearing a WFUV baseball cap and a t-shirt with... not Che... the Planet Earth on the front. I am 6'2"ish and look 40s-ish... white guy...chemical engineer and I look the part. Hopefully, none of you are actively psychotic. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 6 Aug 2006 06:43:23 -0700 (PDT) From: MKB Subject: [RS] Re: Richard in the Park As far as bars go, I'm not that familiar with the area, but I have been to Dewey's Flatiron. It's right by the park and seemed like a good after-work spot. However, it may get a bit crowded on a summer Wednesday. http://www.deweysflatiron.com/index.html Dewey's Flatiron 210 5th Avenue (between 25th & 26th St.) Im so excited for the concert; nothing beats a free RS show within walking distance from my office! I just checked the passim club calendar and am feeling very deprived. I'm sure all of you noticed that Lori McKenna is going to be there next weekend. I'm sitting here in my not so cool house at 6pm with the temp showing 105 and the heat index announced at 114 with not a cloud in the sky and heavy thunder, yet none of this is much of an issue compared with the prospect of no great live performances anytime in the near or not so near future in this area. cranky carrie in kc > > Actually, it's a three-nighter (Friday the 10th as well) and I have a > ticket for the Friday I can't use if anyone wants to take it off my hands > at the member price. As soon as find something...there will be buttons for everyone. Not that I will able to put it to good use here in the midwest!! carrie in kc - -- No virus found in this outgoing message. I'll be with my soon to be 15 year old niece with me among others. I found my SNP button so I'll be wearing it. So if anyone sees a 40-ish woman with long brown hair wearing a button, that'd be me. I was going to wear my Falcon Ridge shirt but we're going to a taping of Rachel Ray's new show and we have to dress up a little. I guess the button will have to do. FYI Carrie, the button's 3 inches wide, big enough for people to notice. In case you're still going to design a button for us listers! Janet - --------------------------------- Yahoo!
