I thought Pete's songs on his newest album were upbeat and hopeful. I guess I should get a couple of his earlier albums! I don't think Richard is particularly morbid like let's say, Leonard Cohen. My daughter calls his songs music to slit your wrists by! As for recognizing other list members at concerts, maybe we should come up with a button to wear. Beats us all wearing the same shirt like we're in a cult or secret society! Janet Tired of spam? Yahoo! Toward Philadelphia to the funeral of my 42 year old cousin, Eric Schenk. Spike Jones could of been on the box and it still would have been morbid. Mom doesn't really have enough RS listening hours to categorize him as morbid, and "Flying an Unknown Flag" isn't as morbid, me thinks, as some of Pete's other stuff. Good point though, Georgette. Bart Please check out Red Helmet Foundation for more on Eric. Who's gonna design the button? Didn't we talk about this before? Suggestion: How about a large 3 inch button with a rumpled bright red teeshirt that takes up most of the button, with Richard Shindell in black block letters and an orange canary perched on the R....or flying off center.??? They could probably be ordered online with a cost of about $2 or so. carrie in kc > As for recognizing other list members at concerts, > maybe we should come up with a button to wear. - -- No virus found in this outgoing message. This may be just for that show but that's a very interesting double bill which I would love to see! Even though it's about 3 hours from me, I am thinking of going to the Great Barrington show next month. Great to hear Pete's music being discussed....I'm in no doubt everyone who appreciates Richard's writing would also enjoy Pete's. He's played at our club every couple of years since he arrived on the scene and always gives great value for money. The last time a few months ago was without doubt his best yet..the songs he's come up with recently has raised the bar considerably on the standards of his previous work. "Flying An Unknown Flag" is a knockout album....all songs are good but I paricularly agree with whoever mentioned 'Further'. My favourite however is "The Shores of Italy"....if I could find the lyrics anywhere on the net I'd link them up. Good to see Pete Morton touring over in the US of course....if he can make his way over there why can't Richard make it over here? Just a thought... Gerry www.MySpace.com/TwickFolk Tired of spam? Does anyone know if he ever recorded it? I can't find any dutch title's on his albums. Sorry for the non RS post, just curious. On Friday, July 14, 2006, at 03:14PM, Gerry Evans wrote: >Yay! Hey Carrie your design sounds really cool although I think 3 inches is a bit too big! Something a litle more subtle. As for that Dutch song Pete Morton sang, I'm not sure if it's been recorded. I'm too new a fan to know that! Janet - --- kunigunda wrote: > OK! Who's gonna design the button?
