Yesterday at my wife's place of employment we tested out the Sirius "Coffee House"--one of upteen music channels on this cable (?) network. After many hours, no Dave and Tracy, Lucy, Dar, etc, but suddenly Richard Shindell singing "I Am." I tried searching the archives but they refused my search. Anyone know this song? It's a list of personas and metaphorical images that complete the "I am..." phrase. I appreciate hearing about sites where one can listen to Richard's "back pages." ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 May 2006 15:47:21 -0400 From: "Gene Frey" Subject: [RS] I Am Hey you guys, "I Am" was written by Richard as a way to express his feelings after the 9/11 attacks. Here is a link to the original offer to download the song as a fundraiser for WNYC radio: http://grassyhill.org/stax/shindell/index.cgi?i=1006277499_kerryber If you use the date search on the left pane and go back to November 21, 2001, and look through the next 10 days or so after that, you will see a lot of discussion about the song, the missing verse, and the events of the time in general. For what it's worth that time was, I believe, one of the most active periods in the history of this group, along with the late summer-early fall of 2000 (Diptheria? The Next Les Nessman? Anyone?) If you want to see that item you can just go back to November 20, 2001, and look for Kerry Bernard's post at 12:31 PM.
