The girl I spoke with at IMAC said there are around 50 seats left. I thought it was probably sold out, so I wasn't even going to try. Just wanted to let everyone know in case anyone else has been seeing the set lists like me, and wishing they had bought tickets. No opening act. Hopefully we'll get a long show. Does anyone remember how long Richard played at his previous IMAC concerts? I've never been there. Greg S. - --------------------------------- Love cheap thrills? The entire show had a somewhat Different feel to it. The special guests were the usual suspects less John Putnam on guitar, who I missed. Denny was wonderful. Lincoln played that upright bass fiddle, again for the entire night. Though I like Lincoln's bass lines, this big bass intrudes a bit much for me and has a muddy sound overall. The amplified notes/overtones just seem to linger. It sounded flabby on Waist Deep, but worked well on You Stay Here, adding a rich foreboding ambiance. Opening with a slow and deliberate Fishing on electric (Martin), Richard single picked arpeggios, each note shimmering. The electric worked here; one might think electric guitar could overshadow his voice, but instead added more emphasis to voice. He went to the Bouzouki for Senior, a Dylan song that is on the still unnamed covers disk, and stayed with it for Arcadian Driftwood (also on the new one). I thought the tune labored along, but the crowd liked it. Well, it's the first time I heard AD, maybe it'll grow on me? After someone spoke a request, Richard said, "Wait 'till you hear this." and broke in to Fenario, which was again outstanding! Finally the acoustic guitar, a Martin -looked like a 16 Auditorium maybe, with rosewood sides. What a song, great voice and playing. Here too he changed some notes just slightly - great. He picked up the electric for a very moving rendition of Reunion Hill. Great voice here too and a nicely played interlude where he put his head near the guitar as if searching for even more tone. Back to the Bouzouki for Mary Magdalene. Though not a real fan of this instrument, I thought it worked best here. The set concluded with Courier on acoustic. Again very good guitar. Set 2 began with Mavis, heard from the lobby waiting for a Blue Point Toasted Lager. Then Cancion Sencilla. You Stay Here (on electric) was another highlight for me; Denny's drumming and Lincoln's bass both painting the scene. Che G T-shirt followed, then Arrowhead both played on electric guitar. No pick on Arrowhead. Very good. Last Fare on acoustic was again muddied with too much bass. AYHN was interesting with a Dylanesq attitude. Different. People had fun with requests and he actually started to play Stairway to Heaven before settling into a good take of Willin' on the electric. He ended with Transit going into a slight jam on the electric at the end with Lincolin and Denny following. Here I was hoping that this jam would have continued to evolve but I guess not. After the show Rich L'Hommedieu of the Long Island Music Hall of Fame presented Richard with a Long Island Sound Award, "For Outstanding Contributions to Long Island's Musical Heritage". See more here though the site is not updated: http://www.limusichalloffame.org Richard, Lincoln and Denny returned to do Summer Wind, a crowd fav.
