Apparently he has 4 CD's; with my income somewhat limited of late, could anyone make a recommendation of which album to purchase first? It's too bad there were only about 30 people in the audience! But he and Dan Bonis were really wonderful. I'm thinking of going to see Tracy and Terence at the Watercolor Cafe, anyone been there? Is it one of those places you have to order food to get a decent seat? Richard content: Terence told a funny story about how Richard was mad at him for writing "The Way it Didn't Go" Richard told him he was writing a similar song in that vein but when he heard Terence's, he threw his away! But, Richard later joined him onstage to sing the song, a classy move on Richard's part. Janet Who's trying hard not to get upset about the significance of this date but WUSB, 90.1 FM in NY, just played Richard's song, "I Am" and is now playing Lucy's "Land of the Living." Maybe I should just turn the radio off. Tired of spam? Yahoo! His most accessible song and CD is The Way IT Didn't Go from Sleeper. I first heard TWIDG on WFUV, Pete Fornatele's show when I was driving home one night and for some reason got into the words. I immediately bough the CD and loved it and it is still in heavy rotation on my CD player. TWIDG has a bunch of hooks; most of his other songs don't. Sleeper is the one I would recommend and listen to the words! Martin is a published poet, although I haven't read any of his poetry. You would think, because of that, that the words would be equally important to the music. Hope you enjoy the CD. Oh, yeah, and that's why I'm a Shin-Lister. While I do list a fair amount to the port side, I'd prefer to talk M-U-S-I-C! The Eliza Gilkyson record, Paradise Hotel, includes an exceptional cover of World Party's "Is it Like Today?" Like most good interpretations, hers sounds original and allows the listener to ingest the words in a profound way. She's touring with Richard Thompson these days, if you get a chance, she's very charming and genuine. Final Note: Great article in the N.Y. Times Travel section today. The writer takes up a journey into Dylan country, northern Minnesota, after reading about it in Chronicles, Vol. 1. Apparently, Dylan and Bono had a "session" one night with a case of Guinness, and the Hibbing Hillbilly regaled Bono with tales of early Viking settlements. The story in the Times makes for some interesting revelations (an actual town called Rollingstone, MN) and is a good read for all Zimmermanophiles.
