Huh? Huh? Didja?? My personal highlights, in no particular order... Gospel Wake Up, Sun morning - The Kennedys, L&N, and Eddie From Ohio (minus Eddie)... And being joined by Vance Gilbert- "even Oreo cookies gotta have some black in em, cant be all just the white fillin'" Crooked Still - yep, they are THAT good! And Rushad, the wild Snee Goblin cellist, is unbelievable. FRFF Rule #3 - Yes, it WILL rain at some point Kreg Viesselman - ran away with the Emerging Artist showcase, and got a standing ovation from the sidelines by myself, Chris Smither, and Vance Gilbert. Not that I count for anything, but I was in some pretty impressive company, dontcha think?? Jimmie LaFave..... One of the best and nicest guys in the business. Walking down the midway with Susan Werner and Dar, eating funnel cakes, and laughing our butts off - seems that when Dar has a baby in her arms, she becomes invisible. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 28 Jul 2005 09:13:39 -0500 From: "McGuire, John" Subject: [RS] FRFF, part 2 Rumor has it that the farm is being sold... Well, truth has it that they closed on the deal last Wed. the day before the 2005 FRFF began. The FRFF team has already been scouting out new locations, and have 5-6 possibles-- but there is also a chance that the new owner will give them a lease, and that the Fest will stay on the same hill for awhile. There is another festival, mostly bluegrass, and also on a nearby farm, and the name escapes me-- that farm is also on the market, or may have been sold already.... Not a good thing, for sure ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 28 Jul 2005 10:18:44 -0500 (CDT) From: Subject: Re: [RS] Falcon Ridge I second this comment about Jimmy LaFave. Very nice guy and puts on a great show. His latest album, "Blue Nightfall", is his his best album. In regards to the bluegrass fest you mentioned, they used to have one called "Nighthawk" but I think that was postponed indefinetely to funnel more money into FRFF. Maybe that fest has returned. It's too bad if they have to move the event - a great fest even though I haven't been in a few years. Winterhawk was what was postponed. Grey Fox takes place in Ancramdale, just a few miles down 22 from Hillsdale the weekend before FRFF. My sources tell me that the farm that hosts Grey Fox has also been sold. It's a hot area when it comes to real estate. I too was at FRFF. I have only one word: FRUiT!
