And not only did he co-birth the list, he raised our child as a single father when I had to retire from list moderation and management. << Aw shucks. Still and all, I'd have had no list to pick up if Sally hadn't started it, so, kudos back at Our Green Heaven. Great to hear from you again, SG. >> Still love Richard Shindell's music very deeply, and after years and years I still find new depths to his songs, even ones that I have heard over and over again. This morning I was listening to Vuelta and "The Last Fare of the Day" moved me to tears - again. << Oh my, yes. I was listening to a live version the other day: Richard along with Byron Isaacs on bass, and it took me back to the time I first heard the song at NYC's Knitting Factory in March of '03. What an amazing moment, particularly the "Hope/Grace" line. Along with "Whippoorwill" and "Che Guevara," I think it's safe (for me anyway) to say that three of Richard's all time best songs are on "Vuelta." Can't wait to hear what he's working on now, since it's clear he's getting better as he gets older. RG _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Greetings from Buenos Aires. Richard here (aka "The Editor") - with a few things to relate. First of all, many of you will have noticed that the website has received a bit of a makeover. The most pronounced difference is not to be found in the all-new design or the added content, but rather in the fact that there are now real, live humans guiding this mighty vessel - dare I say juggernaut? b b onward to market supremacyb. [I remember finding these words etched into the vinyl around the label of the my copy of Robert Frippbs original LP edition of Exposure. It's been my motto ever since. Did anyone else see this or was I just hallucinating?] Anyway, in addition to the usual contacts, news, links, faq, bio, etc, here is what you can now find (or will find, God willing, at some point in the future) at the new and improved richardshindell.com: - --- contentment - --- lyrics - --- mp3s - --- bWhat Ibm Listening tob - --- bRichard's Self-Imposed Writing Assignmentb [The word "Weekly" may be added between "richard" and "self-imposed". Negotiations with myself are ongoing.] - --- a fully actualized, definitive, map-able tour schedule - --- bThe Photo of the Weekb - --- websales (it's not slick, but it's honest, and we hand-stuff those envelops ourselves) - --- a Spanish version of the site So enough talk about the website. What else is going on? Ibve just taken shipment on the first edition of the Argentine version of Vuelta (released on Antiatlas), which for contractual reasons will not be available anywhere else. Theybre flying out the door. Ibm happy to report that therebs a recording project in my immediate future. What else, my translation of Cancion Sencilla is available on the website now. It can be found in the tracklist of Vuelta in the Lyrics section. Finally, on the Crecer Con Amor front, Ibm very pleased to announce that the children have moved into their new building. The final stage of construction continues, but the rest is fully functional. Also, theybll have their own website soon b thanks to the generosity of Jim and Catherine Infantino (www.slab500.com) and Jonas Lerman (www.jonaslermanstudio.com). We are very grateful. Speaking of Crecer, the Che Guevara T-Shirt is now for sale, with $2 of each shirt sold going to support this childrenbs center. Thanks for your support. So thatbs it for now. Donbt be a stranger.
