[Jason Stanley Subject: [RS] Finally saw him in Houston after a 3 year wait. I drove from Austin to Houston to see him at the Mucky Duck. He sounded great but it was a damn long drive and I probably wouldn't do it again. The only complaint I have is there was some sort of Big Head convention in the front row and since Richard was sitting on stool, these enormous heads covered most of the guitar so it was hard to see around them to see the fingerings for some of the chords. He played 3 songs I haven't heard him play before. If anyone has an mp3 of any them I would love to hear them again. He played one called "Famous Blue Raincoat" which sounded great. Another I think was called something about playing dice. No idea about the song name. He also gave us a listen to one he is working on called "One Man's Arkansas" and it was awesome. He just keeps getting better. Jason ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Mar 2005 18:12:19 -0600 From: "Mark A. Douglas" Subject: RE: [RS] Finally saw him in Houston after a 3 year wait. Well, 'Famous Blue Raincoat' is a Leonard Cohen cover. Unless he covered the Jennifer Warnes cover of a Leonard Cohen tune. And I won't iterate this again, but: could've seen him in Dallas, but didn't. Because he didn't actually appear in Dallas. Rats, rats, and double rats. Richard's SONG TITLES are better than most people's whole songs. RG ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V7 #75 **********************************
