Hey you guys, A few weeks ago I posted that I saw an ad for The Brokerage in Bellmore, Long Island, that had Richard listed as playing there on April 6. Well, today's ad lists a different performer there on April 6, and since there is nothing on Fleming's site about this date, it must not be true. Later that same week, Fleming now lists the Joe's Pub shows as April 7 and 8. However, Joe's Pub still only lists the 7th, and Telecharge is only selling the 7th. Aarrgggghhhhhh. Does anyone out there have the skinny? The real deal? The straight poop? The truth is out there, and Vanessa needs to know NOW!!!! Gene, I have no information but looking at the Fleming site, this reasoning occured to me: Tuesday, 4/5 he is in Toronto and on Thursday, 4/7 he is in NYC. It would completely bizarre touring if he went Toronto to Baltimore to NYC on consecutive nights, especially since that stretch of the tour doesn't seem to go any further south than NYC. But then again, who said these tours make logical sense? :) On another note, for those in NY, I noticed he is playing 3 nights at the Turning Pt in Piermont, NY. I used to frequent that place when I lived down there. It is a bit pricey for shows but the room has great atmosphere and every show I have seen there has been great. - -Adam, who will report from the 4/1 Cambridge show Gene Frey wrote: Hey you guys, A few weeks ago I posted that I saw an ad for The Brokerage in Bellmore, Long Island, that had Richard listed as playing there on April 6. That's why this show seemed to make sense. I don't know if it was tentatively scheduled then cancelled, or the Brokerage just jumped the gun in advertising it. Then the show does make sense! I hope it happens for those in need of a Richard fix. I feel very lucky to live where he (and most artists for that matter) play 2-3 times a year (4-5 if you're willing to drive an hour). THREE nights at the Turning Point, my old stomping grounds? Looks like Surfer Dude is going to have to make a trip back home for that. But $30 per ticket for a little 60-seat hole-in-the-wall? Yikes . . . whatbs the folk world coming to? Sounds like you've been there before. I've seen a few people there before(never Richard), and a few times I had to stand near the door covering my ears, because it was so loud. Those acts were pretty rowdy blues bands though(I have a good friend who listens to nothing but, and he drags me along). Do you remember if it was like that when you saw Richard there? If anyone is thinking of making the trip, there's a good pub in Piermont called the Harbor House, and for any wine drinkers out there, there's a really snooty wine bar inside the Freelance Cafe retaurant, if you're willing to suffer the locals. As far as the rowdies, not so much for folk shows. Tends to be a quiet and respectful audience, except sometimes you need to glare at the folks at the bar. >> If anyone is thinking of making the trip, there's a good pub in Piermont called the Harbor House << Actually, if you have dinner upstairs at the Turning Point's restaurant, you get to choose your seats for the show (downstairs) before the people who are there for the show only.
