Am picking up the video and the audio book today at the library. Then it's off to planting posters around town for West Side Folk, announcing Richard's gig in Lawrence on 2/5! I'm excited, but starting to worry already. R is performing in St Louis the night before. Will the weather be ok for the trip to KC? Will there be a good turnout? I guess I must be taking responsibility for this show....the other night I had a dream he was here, performing at an outdoor venue where there were obstructions between the viewing stands and the performing area which was a sunken spot in the ground. The performer that was to open the show didn't show up so some guy started playing trying to fill in. He was awful and the mikes and pickups didn't work to boot. I couldn't find a good seat and kept switching. The show was delayed with family and friends sitting impatiently and expectantly in the stands. I ran into Richard as he was getting ready to perform. He seems frazzled and asked me if I would collect the tickets. I said yes, but realized everyone had already turned in their tickets. Volunteers were selling refreshments and were scooping out ice cream onto plates. It was melting fast, and I kept looking for a plate for myself that had unmelted ice cream. Then my dog barked and I woke up. Is that scary or what!? As I wait for this blizzard getting ready to hit New York, I wonder why would Richard leave summer in Argentina to come to the midwest of the U.S. in the dead of winter! This past Wednesday, it took me three hours to get home from work, it usually takes less than an hour. I was very thankful to have my essential Leonard Cohen cd with me. It kept my sanity as I struggled to drive! I hope Richard doesn't run into any bad weather. No flakes flying here yet! Janet __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? He was awesome! I had never even heard of him, but he was in town so why not? I about fell over when he did "You Stay Here" (one of only 2 songs he performed in English that night). He explained that he had asked Richard if it was okay for him to omit that verse and had Richard's blessing. He said he interpreted the verse to mean that God was responsible for all the bad stuff, and he just couldn't sing that even if that was not the intent of the verse.
