I wish everyone in America would take the time think about and analyze these things before simply venting their own personal bias. I imagine I will take a much closer look at what I read/view in the future. By the way - why did the whippoorwill leap into the blue rather than the red of the setting sun? I know that there'd be dangers involved in investigating the kind of corruption that millions must now suspect....but there must be some decent young 'muck rakers' out there who believe it's the right thing to do. Woodward and Bernstein never swallowed the notion that upper levels of government were immune from corruption. Fingers crossed the modern day equivalent thinks the same and are now beginning to dig around for the truth... __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Check out the new Yahoo! No review at all. I didn't think anything could top "Somewhere Near Patterson". But for the song Cancion Sencilla, which he sang at the concert at Jammin Java when he was in concert, is sung in Spanish of course, the liner notes says that if you go to Richard's website, there will be a the lyrics in English. I went to the website and I don't see it anywhere. It is a very beautiful song. Does anyone know where the English lyrics might be on the site or does anyone know the translation. Eliza Gilkyson opened. I've never seen her before, and think I've only= heard a song of hers once. I think she played about 8 songs, which= included Tender Mercies, Richmond Boy, Highway 9, Not Lonely, Beauty Way= and Rose of Sharon. It was a very enjoyable warm-up. I overheard Richard= telling someone that he had been nervous having such a great singer open= for him this week. A wonderful surprise - Rad Lorkivic accompanied Richard. Apparently, they= hadn't played together in over a year, but other than a couple brief= moments, it sounded like they were in sync. They played the following (not quite in this order): Fenario Waist Deep Arrowhead The Island Che Guevara T-Shirt Cancion Sencilla There Goes Mavis Fishing Summer Wind, Cotton Dress Famous Blue Raincoat (he said one of his early songs was an homage to this= song) Ballad of Mary Magdalen Abuelita Transit Encores: Sitting on the Top of the World (?) Cold Missouri Waters Richard flubbed a few lines, but he sounded great and seemed pretty relaxed= (for the most part). As he was about to play Transit, he made some= political comment (I don't remember what) and he saw someone leave. He= went off a little bit (" 'Oh no, he's getting political, it's time to= leave,' 'I wish he'd just sing and not get political.' What the f*** do= you expect - I'm a folk singer. Have you listened to any of my songs in= the last 15 years?). His comments got loud applause from the crowd - and= Rad was pumping his fists in the air. Afterward, I asked him why he left out the Fr. Brown verse of Whippoorwill= on Vuelta. He said he was feeling pretty anti-religion when they were= recording. He also confirmed that Nora was the song he wrote in they= style of Famous Blue Raincoat. Alas, he didn't play it tonight, but he= suggested I e-mail him prior to the next time he comes to Ann Arbor. I= may yet hear him sing this song during a concert! All in all, a great evening. Nice touch with the group Puente Celeste. As someone , me, who played clarinet in high school and I took lessons with the first chair of the Washington National Ballet orchestra, what a nice touch with the Bass Clarinet in this group, as you hardly hear a demand for a Bass Clarinet, which is deeper in sound and bigger than a regular clarinet. Never knew that a Bass Clarinet could be so jazzy! I belive they have a website www.pueneceleste.com Anyway, when this CD came out, Borders had it featured as one of the CD's you can listen to. I have heard several of the songs before this CD came out, as Richard was singing some of them at concerts as he explained about the Taxi's in Argentina. So before buying it, I gave a listen to all the tracks and I wasn't impressed at the time! So, this October 31, we saw Richard in concert and he sang alot from the new CD, of course. And I liked what I heard. So, I got the CD two days ago at Borders, wondering is it going to be one of those CD's that you play once and that is it, as all of Richard music is wonderful. Plus, a good friend just got the CD and told me it is good as advertised! Well, I got the CD and I haven't stopped playing it! It is that good. I guess the headphones didn't do this CD justise! On my stereo system with the two sets of Bose AHM-5 cubes, it is just amazing, the songs and the arrangements and how well it all blends in. And the quality of the songs and lyrics! So, now how is Richard going to top this CD? O:)! Mike Marmer Germantown, MD ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V6 #257 ***********************************
