["Jason@Stanley.net" Subject: [RS] Please get back to talking about Richard Shindell or other artists... I think it is in everyones best interest if we all get back to talking about the thing this newsletter is for. Richard Shindell. If you want to talk politics there are plenty newsgroups to jump into. Austin.general oddly enough is nothing but. But please quit the pissing and moaning and get back to what this was intended for. I am sure everyone has made some good points but what draws this group together isn't politics I can guarantee that. I am not trying to offend anyone but I really do enjoy reading your opinions on his songs and other folk singers for that matter but it has gotten very old very quickly listening to you talk about why you hate George Bush, actually that you hate him, not why.. I don't like posts where a member asks everyone to talk about something else, without doing it themselves. If talking about Richard is so great, why not show it! ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 Nov 2004 16:12:17 -0800 (PST) From: adam plunkett Subject: Re: [RS] Please get back to talking about Richard Shindell or other artists... This is true but Richard's music at times is highly political - and especially - his latest album. From "Big Muddy" to "Che Guevera" to "There Goes Mavis"(or past albums with "Arrowhead", "Things I Have Seen", "Reunion Hill", "May", "Sparrow's Point"). Actually, in NH, Richard many many comments about the war and about the Patriot Act. So I think it is quasi-related. With that said, I can understand why it may bother some...but I think most not all of Richard's fans would be anti-Bush or else I think they would not like the messages of some of his songs. I am fine going either way but have witnessed many lists where they dont like anything but the topic discussed. You know, Jason, you're probably right, but your tone sucks and I don't like it one bit when people tell me what to do. Since you're the only one "pissing and moaning" about us talking politics, why don't you try somewhere else. If this post gets me thrown off here, so be it.
