Hi: Ron - wow, I am very sorry to hear about your son's mishap and the four front teeth. Bummer. That must have hurt. Glad to hear they were baby teeth and that he will be fine. And happy that you played the "good dad" - and stayed home with him. Sorry you missed the show - but I remember being a little kid and I can pretty much quarantee you that your six year old just wanted to be home and have his Mom and Dad there - and maybe some ice cream - and maybe watch Shreck. Vennesa - to make a long story a little bit short - I was at Outpost in the Burbs again last night ( for the incredible Richard Thompson ) - and one of the backstage volunteers told me that RICHARD ( Shindell ) DID SEE THE PRINTOUT OF THE ABUELITA STORY. I was too pesimistic yesterday. I was told he read the whole thing and smiled and was happy and stuff. And it made me happy that he got my note - and made me hope I chose all my words just right. I had included a short note that mentioned that the enclosed article had been posted to his e-mail list and that I wanted to make sure he knew about what has happended and that one Abuelita's dream was about to come true. I also mention what a great song "Last Fare" was - and that we here on the list were debating whether the couple in the first part of the song was the same as the couple in the second part of the song. So yesterday - when i requested that everybody try to tell Richard about the Abuelita thing - ummm... never mind. Hope I did OK there Vanessa and that I did not steal any of your thunder. The thought of Richard reading about the real Abuelita about to be reunited with her grandaughter makes me smile - and you deserve all props and kudos and praise. bye all... Bob Paterson by the way - the Richard Thompson show was really great. I think he is calling this tour " The Top Songs of the Millenium" tour. He is touring with two amazing female musicians and they blew the roof off the joint. Not a single Richard Thompson song - but a bunch of great songs including Britney Spears and Bowling For Soup. Catch it if you can. A guitar god. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 Oct 2004 06:23:12 -0700 (PDT) From: Christy Thomas Subject: [RS] Vuelta question Hello all...out of lurker-hood to ask a few questions about Vuelta... First...I was nosing around on the internet to see as many definitions of the word Vuelta that I could find...and I came across a page that included the colloquial use of the word meaning - "to let someone have it" -- not as in to give someone something...but more like really letting someone have it when you are angry or fed up. Secondly...I seem to "feel" a connection between the songs Island and Mavis (which is, likely, related to the definition of the word Vuelta mentioned above). Anyone else??? I have a few thoughts about what that connection is...but the thoughts haven't had enough time to percolate and I haven't had enough coffee yet to push that process along this morning to a point that I could write on them coherently. I will attempt to flesh the ideas out a bit and post them (if, indeed, they can be fleshed out). Trying to figure out if I can take off in November to see Richard in Chicago (I'm in South Texas...he ain't comin' here!)...the following night Ellis Paul plays nearby...seems I need to figure out a way to get there. I've friends going to be there as well...so...what am I waiting for???! off to find more coffee... best to you all, christy _______________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
