Last night was another fabulous evening - small crowd (about 60 people?) but Richard was in great form and voice. He did offer to sell his Lowden guitar because it wouldn't stay tuned but I think he was the only one who really noticed that. I even got to talk with him after the concert - he was gracious and I tell you - it just doesn't get much better than this!! The set list in no order: Fenario Waist Deep in the Big Muddy Reunion Hill Hazel's House Next Best Western Transit Che Guevara T-Shirt Cancion Sencilla Waiting for the Storm There Goes Mavis The Last Fare of the Day Fishing Are you Happy Now? America (Paul Simon) A song by Leonard Cohen - nice song that I had never heard before He's on his way to Oregon now....wonder how I can get to Portland!!! We are located in Berwyn, just west of the city, and easy to get to. Pierce had a really good interview piece in Paste (same issue as the Vuelta review), and his new album, Great Big World, has gotten nothing but rave reviews. So if you are in the area, and don't have plans for Saturday, check out the website-- www.piercepettis.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Sep 2004 13:40:12 -0500 From: Subject: [RS] Minimal RS Content Saw Terence Martin last night at the Paramus Picture Show. Oh, yeah, Roger McGuinn was there too:)! Both were awesome. Talking to Terence Martin after his set, he mentioned that Richard had joined him at the Tin Angel one night in his "The WayIt Didn't Go", a truly great song from his latest CD Sleeper. Anyone hear and/or record that one? FYI, if you haven't been the Paramus Picture Show it is a great venue and gets superior talent. Easy in/out, comfortable sets, clean, small (300) low stage so excellent interplay between artist and audience. I highly recommend that you check it out. http://paramuspictureshow.com Joe ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Sep 2004 17:21:45 -0400 From: Wchmelir@aol.com Subject: [RS] shindell-list-digest V6 #208 BG, In response to: "We don't need a coup, Just Vote! 'W' Lets not elect him in 2004 either." What ever will you and like minded individuals do if W wins re-election? You'll have to pick a whole new subject to be bitter about for the next 4 years. Let it go dude. Listen to more music and be happy. He is fantastic! My favorite song of his "Almost Anyone" from his Waterproof cd. He is awesome, he puts on a great show. He is doing a show on Long Island in November. Check him out, he's great! Some Richard content, for some reason I can't stop playing "Sparrow's Point". At work the other day, I was playing "Vuelta" and someone commented while they couldn't hear the words, the melodies were pretty! However, I had to laugh when I visited their website and saw the section on "Acts That Have Played Our Stage," since they fail to mention (for obvious reasons) that the place used to be an adult movie theatre. ;-) "Are You Happy Now?" would take on a whole new meaning. I catch him ever year at Club Passim. He has an album from the early 1990's called "Chase the Buffalo" which is one great album. It was out of print for awhile...hopefully it is not anymore. Interestingly, at my first Richard gig in 1999, he promoted Pierce who was playing the same venue the next month. It sounded like they were good friends. I was referring to another album I had bought....despite that criticism, I think he is a great songwriter. Chase the Buffalo is one of those albums where every song is wonderful. I too bought it at a used CD store along with his two albums from the 80's. Those are very good besides the 80's-ish production.
