And I just don't get what the big deal was (with those folks who were all upset about it). I mean, it's really not off-base theologically, but it does ask the listener to think about all the players and their motives and feelings. I'm thinking now about using it for a lesson segment for our Christian Ed. program at my church. Oh, and the music, though *so* late sixties/early seventies, is pretty good. My husband is asking the music director if it's okay to vamp (on the bassoon) around the pieces in which he doesn't play (looking at the score, he's got loads of rests). He said yeah, man. My Fair Lady - original Broadway cast (c. 1959?) - My Dad was a big Stanley Holloway fan ... this was on the old victrola quite a bit. Julie Andrews as a youngster, well her voice is lovely. The misogyny is whacky in this post-feminist era (this is the post-feminist era, isn't it?). I had a hard time explaining the whole thing to my 17 year old daughter who was pretty much offended by it. Jazz Passengers - Individually Twisted - I gave this CD to my unsuspecting sister Fran but I'm not sure that she's missed it since I borrowed it. All that sax stuff would most likely send her into a tizzy. Debbie Harry's vocals are nice, though. Stevie Wonder - Innervisions - I think this is a fabulous work. If the only thing on it was "All in Love is Fair" it would be worth it. In the vehicle: West Side Story/original Broadway cast and Patty Larkin's A Gogo, plus one or another of my specially blended summer mix CDs. I just bought a bunch of stuff at CD Baby' s five buck sale (most not folkie) but that was an interesting exposure to artists of whom I have never heard.
