I know he has appeared on WUMB in the past and I am hoping to hear him play some songs off the new album. His albums can be hard to find at times but he has made many great albums over the last 20 years. His "Sparrow's Wing" album is one of my favorite albums and Red House Records put out a "Best of" last year. He puts on one heck of a show too. Adam - --- kunigunda wrote: > Thanks to all! I have only one word: WOW. I was blown away. I had this stupid smile on my face, you all know what I'm talking about, the kind of smile that unveils itself when you realize that what you're listening to is just beauty and brilliance. It was gorgeous, far better than any of the five or six live performances of it I've heard (in my opinion, of course). Richard's guitarwork was at the same time more prominent and also more subtle, if that makes sense, and Lucy's vocals were beautiful. The addition of a soft but persistent percussion added a lot, and a really lovely fife (?) solo near the end was wonderful. Only one thing didn't *quite* fit, and I suspect that was just because of the novelty of it: there was an accompanying saxophone in much of the song, baritone sax if I'm not mistaken. It added a nice growling, throaty sound to the song, but it kind of removed me from the setting, transporting me into a "smoky New York jazz lounge" mood. Very interesting instrumental choice, I'll have to see how it sounds with repeat listenings. I hope I'm not spoiling anything for anyone; I just had to share my impressions of this song. Fenario is a song that has never grabbed me in live performances--I found my mind wandering while listening to it, I could never really stay attentive to it all--and that just increased my pleasure at hearing this version of it. A month or so to go... - --Chris ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V6 #146 ***********************************
