I can't remember, is Chris's manager or PR >person or somebody on this list? Yep. :) Our company manages Chris, and we used to manage Richard. And we completely missed Diana's performance on the Today show! Ack! The song Diana does on her new album is "Love Me Like a Man" which Chris wrote about 30 years ago, and which has been covered numerous times by Bonnie Raitt. You can find Chris's version on his album Another Way to Find You (note that Chris's version is called "Love You Like a Man"). http://www.younghunter.com/another.html http://www.smither.com Can't believe we missed it... Is this gonna be the single from the new Diana Krall album? Though I did not see the Today Show, the song in question is "Love Me Like a Man", written by Chris as "Love YOU Like a Man". BTW, Chris plays The Brokerage (Bellmore, Long Island) on Wednesday May 19. By way of a donation to WUSB I'll be there. Finally, a question: If Diana Krall were going to put a Richard Shindell song on her next record ( a couple of years from now I suppose), which song should she do? It would be a big change in both instrumentation ( piano vs. guitar ) and voice ( female vs. male). Diana does a lot of broken-hearted jazz ballad stuff. Has Richard written a song that qualifies? How about "Wisteria"? Bart ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Apr 2004 08:43:13 -0700 From: "Sandra J. Also on 'West Textures'. I have not heard Michael Martin Murphey's cover found on 'Cowboy Songs 3'. Leo Kottke also has sung it originally on Burnt Lips, but the same take appears on several albums. Open G ? http://www.leokottke.com/cgi-bin/recs/compinfo.cgi?performer=Leo+Kottke&comp title=Sonora's+Death+Row I found another version via Goggle, see Tom Perlman: http://www.lineshacktradingpost.com/TrueWestern/PerlmanLeathers.html John Gorka has done it live (I've never seen him); I don't know if he recorded it. No other version has grabbed me like Shindell's. What a perfect song for him.
