Yeah, but you don't need a weather man to know which way the wind blows. jeff. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Apr 2004 18:33:53 EDT From: Bobdog25nj@aol.com Subject: [RS] Judy Collins, Bottom Line Hey All: If I might be allowed, thought I would post two things that might be of interest to people on this list. First, if you are in the NYC area, you might want to know that Judy Collins is playing Friday night in Montclair, New Jersey, at Outpost In The Burbs ( where Richard has played numerous times). I am told tickets will be available at the door. Judy Collins is great if you've never seen her before, and she will be playing in the church itself ( the big room) so I think that means she will have a full band and stuff. Not exactly my brand of folk music but hey - sweet judy blue eyes - what a voice! www.outpostintheburbs.org Also worth mentioning, IMHO, is the radio special celebrating THE BOTTOM LINE, that will air this saturday morning from 9am till 12noon ( east coast time) on WFDU-FM. This is the "other" NYC folk music radio station, based out of Fairleigh Dickenson University in beautiful downtown Teaneck. The DJ is Jerry Treacy, a long time supporter of Richard's music, and Allan Pepper ( of The Bottom Line) will apparently be there live in-studio. Should be fun for fans of the late lamented Bottom Line, and I would not be surprised if Richard's or Dar's or Lucy's names came up - as they all played there. www.wfdu.fm and they do webstream, so you all can listen. Thanks for all the nice reviews of Richard's shows of late. The thing I enjoy the most about this list is "watching" as Richard introduces new songs live, then hearing what people think about them, then hearing which songs will be on a new album, then waiting for the new album, then hearing the version that ends up on the album... yada, yada, yada. It's an opportunity to watch an artist work. Before the internet, I think this was only available to people who were in the biz, or who were friends of a performer. I find it very interesting, and, to my surprise, one of the things I have learned is that the music biz is much more work than I would have thought. Especially the part about always having to create new stuff - that would drive me crazy. But I am happy to see that it doesn't seem to be an insurmountable task for Richard. The new songs are great. see ya.... Bob Paterson ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Apr 2004 01:08:07 -0700 From: "Sandra J. I was once reading a judicial opinion in which the court was trying to explain why it wasn't necessary to have an expert witness testify on a particular subject. The court nailed it when it quoted: "You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows." ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V6 #84 **********************************
