I have chery wheeler's Driving Home. If I would wanne buy another one or two of her albums, which would you recommend? Thanx already! Also - any Richard fan will want to hear Janis Ian's newest album: Billie's Bones. I didn't particularly like Ian's recent live-album, but this thing is fantastic. Also, I am excited because I'll go out and buy Eliza Gilkyson's new album, Land of Milk And Honey, today. That film appeared at the Sundance Film Festival in January and is due in theaters later this year. The second film, an epic called "Che" to be directed by Terrence Malick, is beginning production next year. The Che industry has been fairly robust over the years, with keepsakes including posters, cigarette lighters, watches and nail clippers sold in many parts of the world. But lately it is clothing with the image of the rebel, from the iconic photo taken in 1960 by Alberto Korda, that seems ever more coveted as street wear. It has turned up on Moscow artists and on 11-year-old boys in the New York suburbs. In the last six months, sales of fitted T-shirts, loose T-shirts, tank tops, hooded sweatshirts, caps and camp shirts have increased by about 40 percent at Thechestore.com, said John Trigiani, the company's owner. Mr. Trigiani began selling Che paraphernalia about five years ago after he returned home to Toronto from Cuba with a statuette he had bought for $2, and resold on eBay for $128. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 31 Mar 2004 09:12:01 EST From: ThisWasPompeii@aol.com Subject: Re: [RS] OT Eliza Gilkyson (was cheryl wheeler) In a message dated 3/31/2004 5:29:19 AM Central Standard Time, pjh_mepschen@hotmail.com writes: Also, I am excited because I'll go out and buy Eliza Gilkyson's new album, Land of Milk And Honey, today. As I recall (not reliable since it was a zillion years ago) it was very bitter and I didn't care for it. But I'm willing to give it another try and will attempt to get a free sample. I imagine the health food stores would carry it also. "Driving Home" was her fourth. Followed by "Mrs. Pinocci's Guitar" and "Sylvia Hotel." There's a bunch of hits and misses on all of them, in my opinion, particularly when she gets too silly or too topical. Some folks will tell you that Cheryl without the humorous stuff isn't "real" Cheryl. However, similar to the reason I no longer listen to Christine Lavin, I only want to hear a joke so many times before it gets old. That having been said, I'd recommend that you get her compilation disc, "Different Stripe." Not only are there just three songs you'll already have on "Driving Home," but the rest of the songs are the ones I'd have recommended anyway from her other albums -- plus two previously unreleased songs -- minus the dumb throwaway stuff.
