With Richard playing at mostly only larger venues now (yes, I promise not to go off on the Godfrey Daniels rant again!)... Ron, Gene, Isabel- we may have seen him at the last house concert he ever does, when he played at Tim's. Hunh. - -a somewhat wistful Jim, still hoping for PA dates... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Mar 2004 09:22:02 -0500 From: "Grant Miller" Subject: [RS] FW: shindell-list-digest V6 #40 This is for Peter who asked about decent, moderately-priced guitars. I enthusiastically recommend Alvarez guitars for new players. You can, if you look around, esp. at a big store like Daddy's Junky Music, find one with a solid spruce top in the $200 range. The R8 series starts well below that price, and sounds pretty good for a guitar with a less than solid spruce top. I have no financial interest in this. I have simply purchased several Alvarez guitars for myself and my kids over the years with very good results. On a more topic-related subject, I saw Richard play last September (U of Hartford) and got to hear many of the songs for the new album, all of which were wonderful. ************* ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Mar 2004 9:15:12 -0600 From: Subject: Re: [RS] house concerts We may have. Tim thought that there would be another one, but that was last fall, and it obviously didn't happen. Those 3 or 4 times I saw him there were the best ever. The band is great, but cannot replace the intimacy of those "shows".
