Oooh, me likes this. Very interesting take. I had always interpreted "those Seven Seals" as referring to all of the Seals, not just the Seventh Seal, but if we assume for the moment that the singer is obliquely referring to the Seventh Seal, then the "one-shot deal" line does indeed make sense. Nice observation! That would reinforce the concept of the singer trying to persuade Mary that it's okay for her to leave the order, because, hey, c'mon, there's no other coming. (It does seem like a mighty presumptuous tone to take with the Virgin Mary, though!) Very interesting, I like this more and more. This would lend a subtle air of futility and resignation to the song, suggesting that the very efforts of the Church--the Messianic Prophecy itself--are baseless, and we humans may as well go about the business of being human. Great idea, I like this take. - --Chris ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 5 Dec 2003 21:07:27 -0600 From: "McGuire, John" Subject: [RS] foucault Its Foe-Cault... unless he himself, and his family as well, all mispronounce it deliberately to throw us off guard! And yes.. Miles From The Lightning is dark and depressing at times, but its not THAT depressing. Not like Joy Division....or the late great Jeff Buckley.... or Nick Drake.... or Elliot Smith. But hands down winner for anything that makes me want to slit my wrists, and it doesnt even take half of a CD-- just a song or two!..... Britney Spears!
