Get in touch with Shanachie (www.shanachie.com or contact@shanachie.com) and they should be able to swap out the CD if you return the defective one. It took me a few tries, but I now have a clean sounding copy of the album. This is a known problem - we've sold many copies over the past year or so that had this fault and they've all gone back to distributor. The last few copies we've had in have all been OK (not sure if this a new pressing or old stock though). best Neil - ------------------------------------------------- Fish Records Suppliers of singer/songwriter, folk & acoustic music Shrewsbury, England neil@fishrecords.co.uk http://www.fishrecords.co.uk tel +44 (0) 1743 231546 fax +44 (0) 1743 354354 - ------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Sep 2003 08:14:22 -0400 From: Jim Colbert Subject: [RS] new stuff >Richard showed up at my house the other day with a bunch of new recordings >on CD. Thanks guys, I appreciate the info and suggestion. I'll get in touch with Shanachie and see if I can secure a clean copy, and I'll let the nearby vendor know about the defective copies. - --Chris ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Sep 2003 09:51:57 -0400 From: "scott shindell" Subject: [RS] Re: shindell-list-digest V5 #205 Forgive me for not bringing this to the group's attention sooner. Recently pressed Sparrows Point CDs are in fact defective. Those skips are in the master. Cleaning won't help. I would suggest not buying it until we get it fixed. Shanachie is working on it, and Richard's manager is on the case. If you have a defective copy, please contact me at sshindell@hotmail.com. Oh, and I found a cool bootleg of "Shades Of Gray" online once. Pretty cool, but it needed the bass turned up in a big way. shindell-list-digest wrote: Date: Thu, 25 Sep 2003 23:05:49 -0400 (EDT) From: Chris Foxwell Subject: [RS] Skip in "Sparrow's Point" CD? Is there something wrong with the master copy of "Sparrow's Point"? I have purchased and exchanged three copies of this CD over a five-month period, and each one has had a noticeable skip that occurs at constant intervals throughout the CD, on every track. It varies in severity and noticability, but it's always there. I have tried two different stores from two different states in my attempts to obtain a clean copy of the CD, to no avail. Am I having phenomenally bad luck here, or is there a problem with the master CD? Has anyone else experienced anything like this? - - --Chris "Terrorism will only be defeated if we act to solve the political dispute and long-standing conflicts which generate support for it. I prefer it to the "Cry Cry Cry" version. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Sep 2003 10:54:39 EDT From: Patience9@aol.com Subject: [RS] taping Are we allowed to tape shows? > There Goes Mavis was not in the pile. Cold Missouri Waters touches me and my teen age daughters know all the words because I always play the CCC album on trips and vacations. But you said you liked "Wisteria" also and I have to tell you that hits me too. When I grew up in Ohio we had a big brick house with a lot of gardens. We were not wealthy but the previous owners died and their family sold the huge house to my middle class family for a bargain. I did all the landscaping as a teenager and I enjoyed it. When my parents became empty-nesters I was sad beyond sad. They sold the old house but I don't live that far away and I drive by it frequently, I always think of Wisteria. I drove up to Cleveland to see Richard at the Beachland Ballroom and he played Wisteria, I was so happy that he plays that song live, it is so beautiful and to me, of course, so appropriate. brian in akron ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V5 #206 ***********************************
