Without checking the archives for specifics, don't forget, too, that he changed or deleted a verse or two from the live version to the dowloadable version. I think it would be a nice inclusion to a new disc, myself. (I also think it's a crime that our first real notice of this sort of thing is because Gene happened to hear it on the radio, not from "official sources"- I mean, sweet lorraine, this is as much of a target audience as you could possibly ask for... everyone is here specifically for richard's music, wouldn't you think they might want to dangle a carrot or two, get us salivating and fingers twitching on our credit cards?) And Joe Moorehouse- check the archives, Fluer de Lys has been talked about in the past. Probably my second favorite of richard's from a purely guitar standpoint... Have a great week, all! However, I would go see her live absolutely anytime, because I find her banter hysterically funny and she's sparkling and engaging. I think she's a great live performer. I am back in Pittsburgh, trying to organize a new (beautiful!) apartment. Did anyone go see him in Upper Merion? How was it? I haven't seen Richard play in aaages. I won't quantify that further so as to avoid folks throwing sharp objects in my general direction. ;-) - --V On Sun, 3 Aug 2003 BillyP122@aol.com wrote: > In a message dated 8/3/03 4:55:46 AM, owner-shindell-list-digest@smoe.org > writes: > > << Happy birthday Richard! >> > > Sadly, I could not find away to get to and from Richard's concert tonight in > suburban Philadelphia. Prove me wrong, but I don't believe that the live Sonora Sessions version of 'Sonora's Death Row' can be bettered. As is says on my Pizza box, "You've heard the rest, now hear the best"! I'll just say that I am also hooked on his new song, "Last Fare of the Day". I also really like "Green,Gray" but he only played it once (I think!) and I need to hear it a little more. I had "Last Fare" in my head for days after Falcon Ridge. I was touched by the song that he dedicated to Dave Carter. It seemed he was deeply affected by Dave's passing, as many of us were. Richard's children were so cute, especially singing along to "AYHN"! I guess having them around gave him that mellow look and many spontaneous smiles too! He seemed so, (dare I say it?) happy!! Janet P.S. I was wondering if anyone went to that festival this past weekend in New Hampshire? The name escapes me. It seemed to have an awesome line up and I'd like to try to go next year. Of course if I am recovered from Falcon Ridge by then! : ) One more thing! Richard wasn't at the "Concert under the Stars" in King of Prussia was he? Dar was scheduled to play that night! __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! My kids dragged me away kicking and screaming, but then I consoled myself that she had played my favorite and I only like about 30-50% of her stuff anyway. (damn, the name now escapes me, riding shotgun down the avalanche?) I was just curious what else she played (I like S__y came home, that got radio airplay, and a couple others). She also did a nice cover of Try and Catch the Wind (Donovan). I also caught more than a hint of ego. I know performers sometimes dislike live outdoor shows. On the other hand, as a member of the great unwashed humanity, I like them, that is, music should be FREE, shouldn't it? Free and shared. A show at night, with a gentle breeze, is as good as it gets. I'm sorry to think "I Am" won't make a CD, and very glad I acquired it with my $5.
