Hey guys, Here's a topic I think would be interesting to hear people's accounts of. Have you ever heard Richard cover a song that just didn't work with his style of play? Every cover I've heard him play has come off perfectly. But then I only have 5 years of experience in his audiences. Has anyone ever heard him play a real stinker back in the "old days"? No I haven't but have a similar story dealing with one of his songs. I once saw him in New Hampshire and requested "I Saw My Youth Today". He played it and well...it sucked. :) After he apologized, and said he never ever plays it live and he just remembered why. Besides this moment, it's still one of my faves. Hm, well, I have to say that the Springsteen cover (the time I heard it that is) did absolutely nothing for me. And (here's a way to start the flamethrowing) anything by the Nields is definitely instantly OFF, for my taste. Cranky, cranky, cranky.......... I think he does more covers now, than he did before! Usually they are marvelous and it saves time on writing Lisa ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Apr 2003 18:37:44 -0700 (PDT) From: Janet Cinelli Subject: Re: [RS] Bad Cover? I really like his cover of Paul Simon's "America", he really nailed. I hope it's on his new album! But over the many times I've seen him, he does seem to have trouble with one of his own songs, "Reunion Hill"! I think almost everytime I've seen him play this, he screws up some words or worse, forgets them! And you can see how pissed he gets at himself! It must be frustrating, forgetting your own words! : ) Janet __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Search - Faster. Easier.
