Great guitar, with > the > best neck I've ever played on a Martin. Right on both counts. He used the vintage Gibson for standard tuning songs and used the Martin sunburst for DADGAD and dropped D tuning numbers. They both sounded great, but the sound at IMAC in Huntington is probably the best I've heard in any venue I've ever experienced. Even Richard could not stop talking about how incredible the sound was, and he credited both IMAC sound men as "geniuses" from the stage at the end of the evening. Anyone who knows Richard well knows that proper sound is a bit of an obsession with him. He is rarely satisfied. But at IMAC he's in sound system heaven. If you've never heard a folk concert at IMAC and you're in the New York area, I would strongly suggest you make it there for the next folk show. The sound is truly amazing. It's also comfortable and you can get great Blue Point Toasted Lager (Long Island's best micro brewed beer) on tap, along with a wide assortment of goodies. Hearing Lori McKenna's great songs on IMAC's sound system there early last year (she opened for Richard) was just the cat's pajamas. Ditto for Dar's show. But be forewarned: tickets to the Shindansky show were $30. Ouch! I was also at IMAC Friday. The only thing I can add to everyone else's posts is that I really liked all of Richard's new songs, especially the one about his daughter, ("Green/Gray"?). It's funny Ron posted about the sound system there. I don't know if it was where we were sitting (on the left side) but my husband and I thought the sound system wasn't so great. It sounded echoey and a little hissy. But, as I say, it may have been because we were seated on the side. Great show nevertheless! Janet Yahoo! It sounded echoey and a little hissy. I was on the left side as well, down towards the front, and I thought the sound was great during the songs. When Richard was talking to the audience there was some slight hiss, but the echo seemed to be from the sound guy never being quite sure when Richard was done speaking and therefore adjusting the reverb prematurely.
