What a fantastic day! To see Iraqis in the streets of Baghdad (Is that a new open tuning?) cheering on American Marines pulling down statues of Saddam Hussein. "I'm 49, but I never lived a single day," said Yusuf Abed Kazim, a Baghdad imam who was pounding the statue's pedestal. "Only now will I start living. That Saddam Hussein is a murderer and a criminal." Congratulations Yusuf... To see Iraqi's carrying a banner through the streets of Baghdad saying "Go Home Human Shields!" True, true... To see Iraqi Americans in Dearborn Michigan waving American and Iraqi flags upon hearing the news of Americans taking the City Center of Baghdad. Awesome! Just as the horrible scenes of civilians caught in the crossfire should sadden us all, these above scenes should put a smile on our faces and a warm feeling in our hearts. If they don't, there is something wrong with you. And just think, the Arab world is finally getting to see these scenes too. So sorry for the naysayers out there. Those of you who think that saying "Blow up your local Army recruiting office" is somehow cute must be very disappointed with our militaries success and Iraq's coming freedom. So sorry for those of you who were hoping for "1 million Mogadishu's". Quite the contrary. This war has been the modern day Agincourt. Like Agincourt in it's lopsided victory. Modern in the sense that it has been executed for the purpose of liberation rather than conquest. So I hope you all will raise a glass with me after work today and drink to the coming freedom for the citizens of Iraq and to America doing a very noble thing. Is there a Shindell concert tonight? If there is, can someone post his comments on this great news? I'm sure, at least I hope, that even "Progressives" can rejoice in this great news! Thanks. Woooo Hooooo!!!!! Absolutely Brilliant!!! I almost feel silly. BUT, that's not gonna stop me from doing it again. Thirty Odd Foot of Grunts just released a new album yesterday called "other ways of speaking." It's a great folk-rock album, Russell has a deep, smoldering, wonderfully expressive voice, and the band is tight and has some beautiful, nuanced, intricate acoustic arrangements. And if that's not enough to pique your interest, there's even a very good cover of "Folsom Prison Blues." And if y'all still haven't bought TOFOG's last album, "Bastard Life or Clarity," you should do so posthaste. That is all. ;-) Peace, Vanessa P.S. How much do I love Amazon.com? A lot. A whole lot. np: TOFOG, "other ways of speaking" ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 09 Apr 2003 17:51:31 -0400 From: Norman Johnson Subject: [RS] which will it be? Bill, Which do you want?
