I could be wrong. Geoff even plays the ocarina on it. Wasn't there a > somewhat comical reference to somebody playing an ocarina a while back (senior > moment, can't come up with it). I'll second your recommendation. Geoff is a great guitarist. If I remember correctly, he finished 2nd five years in a row in the National Fingerpicking Championship. Good singer with a deep knowledge of old blues. Excellent songwriter. Co-writes with John Gorka (including a song that Mary Black recorded.) > Geoff operates an enterprise in Cambridge, MA called the CanTab Lounge, I > gotta get over there one day. Anybody else remember making long chains from > can tabs way back when?? Not quite. Geoff runs the open mic there on Monday nights. The bar is a dive. On Mondays, Geoff comes in, sets up the sound, organizes the open mic-ers, does a few songs, and introduces the featured performer. He's been doing it for well over a decade now. The drunken regulars at the bar are generally fairly quiet and occasionally listen to a song if it grabs their attention. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 5 Apr 2003 10:34:17 EST From: MWN52@aol.com Subject: [RS] Baltimore Concert I haven't seen anything on Thursday night's concert at the Gordon Center, in Owings Mills, MD, so here goes. Except for a lot of fussing around with the sound system, it was a delightful evening. Both Richard and Lucy seemed relaxed and delighted to be playing together again for the first time in six months, according to Lucy. Richard joined her on several songs and she did the same in his set. They both related well to the audience of about 250 people. I didn't make a list of Lucy's songs, but she started with Dave Carter's "Cowboy Singer" and did a lovely new one entitled "The Thread," which is likely to be on the new CD she said she'll begin recording in a couple of months. Here's a list of Richard's songs (not entirely in order): Courier (that was first) Nora Darkness, Darkness Che Guevara T-Shirt (I think it will grow on me, but the lyrics were a little complex to absorb on a first listen) Gray Green (a gorgeous song) Last Fare of the Day Reunion Hill (had a lot of meaning in these times) Are You Happy Now? Next Best Western Mary Magdalene Encores (in addition to one Lucy song I can't recall): Transit (much better than either than on Courier or SNP) Farewell to St. Delores Harvey ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 5 Apr 2003 11:25:13 EST From: Patience9@aol.com Subject: [RS] take me, take me I need medical insurance and am a great salesman having retired from working about 7 years ago after 10 years in sales with ABC network...lol > We pay well, provide a full benefit package including family health > insurance, and have a retirement plan with matching company contributions. > We are compassionate.
