I discovered them about a year or so ago and their record is absolutely beautiful. They're from Brooklyn, so I've had the great opportunity to see the entire band, which is something like 10 people. Very beautiful, both live and on the record. Another recommendation for those of you who like Nick Drake - Alexi Murdoch. www.aleximurdoch.com jenn ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Apr 2003 20:40:32 -0800 (PST) From: Elizabeth Subject: [RS] Ashland Coffee and Tea 4/2/03 This was my first time seeing Richard play, and it was very exciting for me. AC&T is a really nice room--I've been there several times before--and Richard seemed to like it, too. He commented that he'd probably hang out there if he lived in the area. I got there early, and we got to go pick out seats during sound check, and I was fairly giddy at walking in there while he was strumming Reunion Hill. He was fascinated with playing with his new guitar, often moving back and forth and sideways to hear how it sounded in different places in relation to the microphone. In the second set, he scrapped his set list and played things that were fun on the new guitar. I would have been happy to hear some more of his own songs, but it was equally fun to watch him experiment and enjoy himself. I got brave enough to go up to him after the show to tell him that I really like Last Fare of the Day, and he was very kind and friendly. Overall, it was a great concert experience. Anyway, here's the set list as I wrote it down: Courier Cold Missouri Waters Che Guevara T-shirt Green Grey A Summer Wind, A Cotton Dres Reunion Hill Arrowhead Are You Happy Now - --break-- Waiting for the Storm A Good Year for the Roses I Got Mine (not sure about that title) Darkness, Darkness (less sure about that title) Fishing Lazy Last Fare of the Day Transit Love Before You Go Also, I talked to one of the owners of the place, and she said that they may be getting Dar again this summer, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed as I can't get to Charlottesville this time around. ===== Elizabeth ~~~ "Our existence deforms the universe. *That's* responsibility."--Neil Gaiman ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 02 Apr 2003 23:31:46 -0500 From: Norman Johnson Subject: [RS] titles and Gaiman >> I Got Mine (not sure about that title) Darkness, Darkness (less sure about that title)<< "Darkness Darkness" is a cover of a Jesse Colin Young song. What were those first few rows, $38 or something??? I've been going to these for 11 years and I decided to buy seats further back. And not to bring the kids (10 and 13) ($19 each) Phooey.
