Only one complaint: no beer! Could have used a frosty one while listening to the likes of Reunion Hill and Traffic. While it was just my first time I've seen Richard play live, something felt warm and "homey" about the show. Like opening the door and finding old friends there. I even brought some new converts with me who quickly bought up his cd's after the show and I'm sure are listening them them even now. My girlfriend asked him why he didn't play Cold Missouri Waters (or "the fireman song," as she called it last night) and he said it "kind of worked itself out of the set." Would love to heart it next time he comes around. The couple songs they did with Tracy were really a treat. I especially enjoyed the three part harmonies. I would have liked to have a heard a little more harmony like that in some of the other songs played, but they still weren't lacking because of it. Great show, great venue, great people. Next time I'm buying a ticket for everyone I know. :) "...the next best thing to playing and winning is playing and losing." - Alison Krauss Yahoo! A record store employee had posted a sign that said something like "...you never heard of this guy but you have to listen to this CD..." So I listened and it blew my socks off. The song that means the most to me is "Castaway". Later I learned that this song was autobiographical for both Richard & me. Last Spring when Richard was at the Freight in Berkeley seven of us in the front row pleaded for Richard to perfom it. Frankly, he seemed pained by the request & it didn't happen. Has anyone ever heard Richard perform this?
