Does anyone else really like that song? I think that might be my favorite recording off of Blue Divide, the arrangement is great, just an acoustic and an electric guitar playing perfectly (and in harmony!) together. Not to mention that the song isn't half bad either! Anyway, I'll try to post more often. Since October of last year, I got married and bought my first house, so I've been out of many loops for awhile! My wife and I might go see Richard and Lucy in Media, and I believe he's also playing in Sellersville with Tracy? But we are really looking forward to KoP's Concert Under the Stars this year. - -Evan ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Mar 2003 07:28:30 -0600 From: "MARSIK Theresa" Subject: [RS] Re: requests The last 2 times I've seen Richard, I've requested Nora. Both times, he played Sonora's Death Row. Now, I was sitting in the front row both times and I swear I didn't hear anyone request Sonora's Death Row (not that I'm complaining, because I like that song, too). Does he ever play Nora anymore? Just curious, Theresa (who has also heard Che Guevara T-shirt) ;) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Mar 2003 08:34:08 -0500 From: patrick t power Subject: [RS] "TV Light" Revisited I wrote: >>The last time I saw Richard in Ann Arbor someone requested it . . . I guess it's a cr*p shoot! All this talk reminds me of the Simpsons when they go to the State Fair and Bachman-Turner-Overdrive is playing. They announce that they'll be playing all their classics, but first they'll play some new tunes. Homer yells out "Takin' Care of Business" and that he doesn't want to hear any new cr*p. He doesn't shut up until they play it. From: Patience9@aol.com Date: Fri Mar 14 08:39:56 2003 Subj: cotton dress I waited 6 years to hear a cotton dress which he finally did in Wesport, CT last fall. I was doing my weekly "sit down with my guitar and play songs from Ron's chord page" and I came across Easy Street. I thought, "I almost forgot about this song, it's a great song, does he ever play it?" (I also said the same thing about May!) To which I reply: It was indeed one of the best Richard shows ever, or at least one of the best that I've seen as well. In fact, he did "Spring" and if I recall correctly, he hadn't even titled it yet. I could be wrong though. Maybe he had yet to title "Grocer's Broom," which brought tears to my eyes that eveing--the first time I heard it. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen! These guys really have their act together. It was just awesome! I'll put a set list here for Richard's part, although it's not in correct order. Tracy's performance of "Winter When (S)he Goes" was so amazing. Bring your hanky! And Byron's harmonies on some of the songs, especially "Are You Happy Now" were...well, amazing! A funny little story....as Richard and Byron were walking around the stage, about to go on, Richard walked into Tracy's violin and knocked it off its stand, to which he quickly picked it up and looked furtively around to see if anyone saw him. :-) He gave it a once over and put it back, then before he started his set he asked, "Is Tracy out there?" No response, and he said, "Good. She didn't see that." :-) When she joined him onstage later and picked it up, she was having a little trouble tuning it and Byron loudly asked, "Tracy, what happened to your violin??" That got him a long, hard stare from Richard followed by, "You're fired." :-) Okay....songs.... Arrowhead Are You Happy Now? As I recall, it's a favorite of Lisa Davis as well. Supposedly, the genesis of the song is that Richard saw a news story about a girl playing the flute in one of the war ravaged states in the Balkans. An added plus- Lucy's harmonies.
